I was pricing Ewes today, And was offered 7 of them for $100.00 each with there lambs at there sides. The rest of the ews ,Questionable if bred. were $65.00 to $75.00 each. is that A decent price. The 7 were hair sheep. The rest were wool breeds including Jacobs rams.

i guess, it really depends on how much it's going to cost you over the winter to feed/care for them. You know you could go without all of that expence for the winter, or you could learn for it, and keep them for a couple years, then build up...

We don't really have winter here as the folks up north know winter as. And my property is quite overgrown. Plus I have free use of A 10 acre pasture if I need it. With the prices of Mutton/lamb in the stores . It only makes sense to get A few. But I am waiting till after the Holidays to purchase.

A dollar a pound on the hoof for a healthy, grade animal is reasonable. Those prices are pretty average.
