I just wanted to share a couple of pictures of a quilt I designed for my mother in law a few years ago. The family is German/Irish. I painted the corners, Irish chain for border, the blocks I designed and gave blank muslim to her children (& families)to do in any way they wanted (embroidery, fabric paint, cross stitch, applique etc). Similar to the "swaps" we have here I handed them out at Thanksgiving and they had to get the blocks back to me by Valentine's Day. One of the daughters and her dd did the hand quilting. We gave it to mother in law on Easter Sunday - lots of tears in the house!





We had a lot of fun doing it and they got to put some memories in fabric!

Very nicely done.

I think I remember you posting about sending out the blocks, way back when...

i love that idea, she had something from everyone. alot of love in that quilt.
