Anyone here ever get very salty milk from their cow?

I went to milking every other night, and Ginger wasn't perturbed about that...any notions what can cause that?

Thanks

Yes, mastitis. Probably the once a day milking pushed her over the edge so it's showing up now. It may not be a very visible mastitis, but if you look close you'll probably find one quarter is off.

She has only her two rear quarters, and no apparent other signs of mastitis.

I quit milking night before last, as she's down to about 1/2 gallon every other night.

No swelling, no heat, no redness, no clumps were ever visible for the three milkings that produced salty milk.

She hasn't had a heat in God-knows how long, and her last calf was July 10, 2006...he's on our table now.

Not sure how old she is, but you might consider shipping her out!

She'll be 7 in Jan. Her two quarters produce plenty of milk when she's got it. For us and cowshareholders, 3 gallons per day is quite enough.

Thank God...she's in heat today. Three weeks is perfect breeding time for us...TIA for prayers!
