Last night we arrived back home from out of town to find our daughters registered sow "D" hung up in a gate. (I had no clue her head would fit in those spaces....). She ended up killing herself. She was bred to farrow in March with state fair hopefuls.
Sorry to cry about it...but we REALLY loved that sow. She was a super one.

I am so sorry you lost your animal! And I dont see anything wrong with loving a sow either. I am constantly amazed at how I become attached to animals other than humans. Hopefully you will keep the good memories of her and soon be able to get another animal for the 4h scene. sis

Real Sorry to hear that. We've had similar almost unexplainable things happen with cattle over the years. Always a dissapointment, especially when it's a good one.
Hope the New Year brings better fortunes for you.

Oh that is heart breaking! I do truely understand. I am totaly amazed at how much we have come to love our sow! I would never have believed it, and understand how others can think I am off my rocker to treat her the way I do..
I would be devastated if something happens to her!
    Our sympathys!

so sad. We love our gilt too! (can't wait to breed her!) I would really freak if something happened to her. This coming from someone who said she would never have pigs!

    My sympathies.
