Do you mean the entire bone just fell off or the part covering it? From what I have read the bone has a fingernail like covering and you can trim and file it. My guess would be that part will grow back. If the bone is gone I have no idea. Is he bleeding?

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in. I'm curious to what is said. Either way it sounds painful. Poor guy. I almost freaked when the man I bought one of my hens from whipped out a pair of wire cutters and trimmed hers, but she didn't act like she felt it even if they did bleed a little. So if I ever need to do it I wont be afraid.

 

No, they just don't normally fall off. It might have caught on something & ripped off. I have Buttercup hens & they have HUGE spurs for some reason & one just ripped hers off the other day. She's fine. As long as he doesn't have prolonged bleeding he should be fine.

 

If you want them to look uniform, take a pair of pliers and twist the other one off. The dead part will twist off.
