Has anyone tried growing Romanesco cauliflower (http://www.almostachef.com/2008/04/romanesco-cauliflower/). It is extraordinarily beautiful, with a lovely taste when oven roasted. I had it at a Slow Foods gathering in the fall and would like to try growing it this year. I suspect it requires the same care as other cole crops, especially against cabbage maggot.

Any tips or cautions gratefully accepted.

If you read the reports on that linked site, the only person who successfully grew it was in Wisconsin and still only had a 2" head in late September. That was 2" more than I had at that time when I tried growing it. The monster plants were chopped down in middle of October without a hint of a head.
