Roller Shades, remember how to fix?

    This shade wont roll up or down, seems i remember as a child, there was a way to fix the spring so it will work, anyone? hasnt worked since new--

    Take a dinner fork and use it to wind the spring. You stick the end with the flat bar between the tines and turn the fork to wind it. Careful you don't overwind it or you'll have a flying fork when you let go ( Don't ask how I know this).

    Undo the shade from the holders, but then insert just the flat ended side back in it's holder. Roll up a little, put both ends in holders,check the tension by unrolling, and continue to roll up again, check etc. until you have a good tension. Works for me.

    That's the same way I fix them.
