TEOTWAWKI might be a lot like an Ah-nuld movie...Thoughts on the coming robotics and AI:

http://chronicle.com/article/Is-Artificial-Intelligence-a/148763

It's already here, it's just not in your face yet.

Every time you go to a mall or government office you're on camera and most of those systems have been hacked. So you can be tracked with face recognition software etc. Those that go to a football game, baseball game etc are being monitored already. The people just don't know or care, just as long as it doesn't interfere with their "team" winning or any freebies that are being given out..

I know, what life will be like in 100 years. Going on without me. :)
And maybe without the rest of us.

Some pretty smart folks in the article cited, think mankind is at much more risk of extinction through AI, than from nuclear weapons.

Asimov had this taken care of in 1950

One, a robot may not injure a human being, or through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm;
Two, a robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law;
Three, a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
