raised bed question...are tires ok?

    Caroline, I have read that you can grow tomatoes and peppers in them well. They like the heat that the black rubber creates and maintains. I'm going to try a raised bed with them and plant my toms and peps in them. I'll go two tires high around a bed and see how it works. I love experimenting with new ideas.

    I've heard that down here in so.Mo snakes like those nice warm tire beds..neighbors warned us about them when we moved down here. Youdont wanna go sticking you hands into anyplace you can't see clearly....I always stomp loudly thru my garden rows and give the critters time to slither away. we had alot of copperheads the first year we were here as previous owners had burned old sheds and just let them fall in and the snakes loved it. DEE
