Mowing 90 acres has become my main boreing factor wanting to mount a radio on the tractor (car type) and clipping the power leads to the battery. Would attaching a radio by a fixed magnet cause damage to the radio? It needs to be removed daily as there is no shelter for the tractor.

If you go with a car stereo, you would have to remove the speakers as well unless they were waterproof. Also, you would have to rig a permanent antena.

It would be less of a hassle to use a 'boom box' type portable radio and a small inverter. Rig up a 'cigarette lighter' outlet near where the radio would be used, plug the inverter into it, and run the stereo off of the inverter. Rather than magnets for mounting the gear, I'd see if Velcro or bungee cords would work first. Complex electronics and strong maginets usually don't agree.

Why not just buy a weather proof tractor radio? They do make them. Radio, speakers, and antenna with a weather proof cabinet. Open the lock, then the door, turn it on and enjoy. All mounted on a fender or cab roof near you.
