I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I'm working this pattern for slippers/socks.

I'm trying to figure out how it wants me to measure it. It says:

Work K1, P1 rib for 6 rounds.

Knitting the Heel Flap:

Working with 31 heel stitches on Needles 3 and 4 only, turn so wrong side is facing and slip all stitches onto one needle.

Row 1 (WS): Slip 1 purlwise, P30.

Row 2: *Slip 1 purlwise wyib, K1; repeat from * to last stitch, K1.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 2 ½” /6.5. cm from rib, ending with a right side (RS) row.

So, do I measure from the beginning of the rib where my cast on stitches are for my 2 1/2 inches? Or do they mean 2 1/2 inches from the BOTTOM of my ribbing, so I am making 2 1/2 inches of Row 1 and Row 2 pattern on my heel flap?

It says: until the piece measures so I thought it meant from the beginning of the rib where my cast on stitches are, to be measuring the piece. But I'm not sure that's right... I think I might've screwed up and might have to start over...

Thanks for your help! :)

Also, I would knit a few rows between the ribbing and the heel flap.

Thank you, Maura. :) I'll do that too! :thumb:

I think I'm going to have to tear out and start over... It doesn't quite come up to my ankle bone. LOL.
