I have a friend who is sitting on 100 gallons of honey from 2003. He is not very aggressive with finding a market for his product. I have another friend who has a store, and I've approached him about purchasing some of this honey. My beekeeping friend has NO IDEA what to charge for the honey. He mentioned that he gets $18 a gallon from his buddies.

I am confused about the "per pound/per quart" pricing. I read the pertinant threads in the forum regarding pricing, but it only confused me further  !! My purchaser friend is waiting for an asking price on a 5 gallon pail of honey. What do you think??

$18 a gallon is cheap that only comes to $1.50 per pound. A pint is 1.5 pounds and a quart is about 3 pounds. I would have him sell it at 2.00 a pound if it is good stuff. Then the retaler can mark it up 50% and charge $3.50 a pound including container cost.
