Can't say about domestic rabbits... but I have often observed wild cottontails busy with courtship rituals in January. At least I assume that is what they are doing!

They are so funny. Two rabbits approach each other and sit nose to nose. One jumps straight up in the air and lands.:bouncy: Then the other does a jump. :bouncy: They keep this up for several turns and then run helterskelter in opposite directions and then circle around and meet up again near the original spot. Then they do it again.

They are especially lively on cold, clear, still moonlit nights. When there is snow on the ground to increase visibility, I like to watch them.

Yup, I guess it could be that time of year...they breed pretty much year-round, but this would be the time of year for them to breed if they lived in the wild.
