I really don't know a lot about bucks and their rut, but I wonder if you have the YOUNG bucks and does together? If they're three months old, the boys will surely breed their sisters AND their mothers. I don't think that would be an ideal situation. (But maybe you already know this, and you already have the young boys separated from the girls.)
Question re bucks in rut
I have 2 yearling Nubian bucks. I also have 2 Nubian does and their kids, 4 boys and 2 girls. The bucks have gone into full blown rut over the last week. My Lord, you would not believe the noise, blubbering, charging each other, etc. Neither of the does have the slightest interest in them and do not usually come into heat until July or October. Could this rut be caused by so many bucklings starting to mature so the bucks think there is a lot of competition? The bucklings are 3 months old now and are due to go to new homes in the next couple of weeks. I thought Nubians were seasonal breeders and presumed that the bucks wouldn't go into rut like this unless the girls were in season. If one of the does accidentally gets bred this early and so soon after kidding, will there be problems?

Nubians are not seasonal breeders always or ever. . . they can breed nearly year round. I understood that Nubians, Pygmies and Nigerians were hot weather breeds originally, so they can breed year round. All my Nubian boys are in rut right now.
I had no idea that nibians weren't seasonal breeders. I never noticed my does in heat till the fall.
Right, everything I read about Nubians says they are mostly seasonal breeders. My does have come into heat in July and October - however, last year they switched and the one who usually came in July waited until Oct and vice versa - so I guess all bets are off. The 3 month olds are not the problem. The yearling bucks both went into rut and I mean RUT, charging each other, butting until scurs broke off, spraying pee - the whole nine yards. I was just wondering why when neither of the does is in heat and the 2 doelings that I have are only 7 weeks old. I thought maybe all the testosterone in the air from the 3 month old bucklings starting to mature is what set off the yearlings. Well, all but one of the boys are leaving in the next couple of weeks so if I can keep them separated I guess it won't matter. I just thought it was weird that they went into such intense rut without a female in heat anywhere around.

I have a Saanen buck. This is our first year with a buckling born here in February. Hamish started to get cranky and stink about 2 weeks ago. I have a Nubian doe and a Saanen doe, neither are in season. I just assumed his rut was brought on by Yukon's reaching sexual maturity hormones raging. Yukon started acting like a young buck about the same time Hamish's rut started...Yukon is mean. He is bound for the freezer soon. I hope this calms Hamish down.

Most Nubian breeders I've spoken to locally find most of their does will have a short spring heat.

Owning a buck is a whole lot more effort, and I adore Hamish. He was my first buck and I'll admit when Yukon turned into such a lil pooperhead. I was shocked.
