Rice. Can anybody tell me the best way to store rice? Can it be kept for years upon years in, say, a well sealed five gallon pail? I've now heard that rice can and can't be canned, though i wouldn't just can a jar of just rice, it would be in soup. Does anybody collect wild rice? I'd love to hear about that, too. Thanks for all your help.

If you are putting it in a pail, make sure it's food grade. You may also want to get some of the silica packets that keep moisture out and maybe even some DE to keep the bugs out.

I would put it through a food saver to suck out as much air, if possible.

You may not be able to can it, but you can put it in canning jars and some food storage things like food saver have jar tops that you affix and it sucks the air out fo them, too.
