Just curious.... :)

I took the below picture of the house next to ours that went up for sale a few months ago. They put in a new septic the other day, but there are two pipes protruding from the ground. I'm use to seeing one 'candy-cane' type pipe, but I've never seen one that is 20 feet high!

Is this strange? Do the septic experts here know why they designed the system this way? Its been driving DH and I nuts with curiosity...

When we building we had the pipes sticking out like that because we were not sure how short to cut them (they where clean outs ) until all the grade work was done .

I think oldmanriver is right on the money...looks like all they had left of pipe on the truck was a long piece so they slapped that on until they know the final grade in the spring after the ground has settled.

Making it tall allows the grading operator to see it while moving the soil back in place. you can see a pile of topsoil in the background?
