    I have a 98 blazer, 4.3 i think vortech six, 700r4 tranny 4wd.

The ex burned up the transmission not once, but twice. I rebuilt it again and the dang thing went out after she drove it for about 3 months but it isn't burned up or as far as I can tell.

    The symptoms i have are....

Put it in reverse or drive and it engages and will move the vehicle at least 100 feet. IF it shifts into 2nd gear, or IF i shift from reverse to drive, i lose the gears completely. Nothing will work. I turn it off, let it cool down cold and then do it again and it works like i described.

Fluid levels are correct, fluid is new, filter is new, lines are hooked up correctly and no leaks, i get flluid circulation through the lines through the radiator, and fluid is not burned.
4wd isn't even a issue at this point.
    What say ye!

before you check the fluid level run it through al the gears. then check it. I'll bet its low. sounds like your your sucking the pan dry when you go to reverse.
