I've tried to look up an answer on the internet, but can't find anything. My soil has something that almost resembles bee hives growing on top of it. It's not bee hives though. I can't figure out what it is, whether it's bad and how to get rid of it.

If it helps, I live in SE Mass, zone 6 and the only real addition to my soil this year was some horse manure.

Thanks,

Heather

Are they built up out of soil? I wonder if it's something like a mud wasp building a nest out of mud.

That's so fascinating...I'd love to see a picture of one.
