question about sheep's size

    is there a breed of sheep that its comparable in size to nigerian goats?

    perhaps baby doll southdowns could be :shrug:

    SIZE
    All measurements are at the shoulder and perpendicular to the ground on shorn sheep.



    BABYDOLL SOUTHDOWN SHEEP should be from 18-24” tall

    Southdowns are heavier though. I would compare a nigerian to a barbados, they are definatly more goat like and lean like a goat not stocky like a sheep.

    Some of the primitive breeds are a bit lighter in body type. I know there's a great variety in the icelandic world, depending on whether the breeder has been doing wool or meat genetics.

    Definetely a shetland. They are on the smaller side, and delicately boned, and lighter. Babydolls, being originally a meat breed, are much thicker boned, wider, and heavier than the shetlands. The babydoll ewes outweighed our shetland rams.
