Pumpkin pie in the fridge or not?

    Do you put yours in the refrigerator? I have seen them out on the counters in stores, in the bakery section....but I have always been told to refrigerate it because there are eggs and stuff in it.

    What do you do?

    I refrigerate it - but I like it when it is cold because you can eat it with your fingers.

    I always put it in the fridge. It's easy enough to reheat in the microwave or oven before serving if someone likes warm pumpkin pie. I prefer it cold.

    Store in fridge. Microwave for 30 seconds before smothering in whipped cream and eating.

    Whatever keeps it from doing that weepy water thing.

    I don't know why, but sometimes those things just sort of spring a leak and water like liquid oozes out.

    Then, no amount of whipped cream can save the pie and I have to switch to eating the pecan or apple. (Of course, then, I have to have vanilla ice cream instead of the whipped cream.)

    Mom never refrigerated hers & I don't mine. The eggs would be baked so no need to worry there. No different than a cake or cookies that had eggs in it & then were baked. Pie doesn't last long enough to spoil around here. :D

    I definitely refrigerate. I also refrigerate cakes and cookies.

    I don't refrigerate and have never had a problem. My mom never did either and is 81 now so I am going to say refrigeration is not necessary - the eggs are cooked. Of course if I had a family that didn't eat it all up within 2 days I might refrigerate but ours never last that long!

    I refrigerate because if it doesn't get eaten in a couple of days, the pies tend to grow "hair". For Thanksgiving and Christmas, there are so many people around eating that the pies don't last long and there isn't much room in the fridge anyway,

    My 47 year old system, aka "Mr. Iron Gut"' keeps them on the counter because the fridge is just too darned full. Those store pies? When the ingredient list includes 6 syllable words that would make a Srabble champ proud, it really doesnt matter where they are stored. BTW, I am cooking the turkey this year for those brave enough to try it.

    I refrigerate after a day or two but don't worry on the day of and the next day.

    never have put them in the fridge. I make several.....breakfast Thursday morning is traditionally pumpkin pie so I have to have 2 for that plus more for later on....They never seem to last past Friday here so no worries about "hair" growing on them.

    after day one, you need to refrigerate, or you end up with "Santa Claus Pie"...this happened to me on a two day old pie...long white mold, like santas beard.

    Fridge.
    I bake ours from scratch and it will mold in 2.5 days on the counter.
    Foods should be either under 40 degrees or above 160 degrees to be in the 'safe serve' zone.
    Now, we all know we never hit that mark perfectly every time (hence the reason for strong immune systems) but when it comes to things with eggs, milk and delicate-quick spoiling ingredients, I try to err on the side of caution.

    Have left them out, but that was when they were gone by fri eve...one yr made 3 & it was just the 2 of us. By sat eve, I think...the one left was 'hairy'. :(
