I've read you should prune in Jan BUT what about pruning now? No fruit on the tree and it will soon be snow season.

Yo Colorado. This is my first year pruning but when I asked everyone said winter pruning is best since it causes the least amount of stress on the tree since it's dormant. I'm in WY. I'll be pruning around Jan.

You can do minor pruning anytime, but, best to do any major pruning when the tree is dormant. Early Spring or late winter, before bud stage works best.
