Pruning Blackberries

    cut off the leader wherever, then cut all the side branches at 18 to 24 inches next year you shoul get approximately 3 million berries, give or take a couple million.

    Keep the center open so the sun gets down in and you don't have to reach through to pick. Prune any cane that is wider than your thumb. Make sure no branches are rubbing each other. A good practice is to keep 7 canes going per plant. Dead/diseased wood can be cut at any time.
