Hello all,
I have a pregnant cow that should be due any day now. I was wondering if someone could chime in and tell me when to really be "bird dogging" her. I know she's due in April but need help narrowing it down a little.

So far she's really bagging up, she's awfully swollen in her "lady parts", her tail has been wet for about 4 days now, she's kicking and licking at her belly, laying down a lot etc. She basically looks like a whiskey barrel with legs! With the signs that shes showing, how long till I should expect to see a calf? She's a 3 year old Hereford and this will be her second calf.

I assume you've made sure she'd gotten adequate selenium and upped her protein? You are prepared for milk fever and scours? You know she was bred to a low birth weight bull, so calving won't be a disaster? Her first calf? If you need to help, can you reach in and get both front feet up into the birth channel? Do you have access to anyone with the tools to pull a hip locked calf? Is there a large animal Veterinarian that you have a business relationship with?
