Pulling posts and other things from the ground with simple equipment is a handy tool for the off grider or prepper. Here my lady wanted me to drop down her pagoda on one side so it shed water better. To do this I needed to pull out old posts set into the ground close to house foundations which made digging very difficult. Here is my tricky solution which I will admit I am very proud of.

Dayum!
Why couldn't you have posted that 6 months ago when I needed it?
I had to rely on someone with a strong back and a weak mind - me !

I'm glad you posted this damoc...it reminded me of my Dad and I pulling posts many years ago in a swamp bottom. Too wet for a tractor, so he built an a frame on wheels with a pulley on top and a cable puller. Roll it up, hook up a choke chain, tie it off to the closest tree and away you went.

I've got to see if I can find that thing!

I've just wrapped a chain around the post and using my High-Lift jack pulled it straight up out of the ground.

The tire rim looks interesting but I’m not sure that would pull a steel post out without some flex.
I might give that a try and find out.
