that's what my mom called the extra bread dough. (she made sure there was always extra) she'd pull it out...pop it in oil to fry...drain...but sprinkle with sugar and cinnimon before toooo dry. eat while warm...soooo good!

my comfort food today. :) ok...hot bread with lots of butter will be, too. later. and I wonder why I don't lose weight when it's cold! LOL

Extra bread dough? What's that? :D We don't have anything 'extra' here.

My favorite were Faschnachts. Not just at Easter time, my Gramma would make them year round. I liked them with cinn & sugar, but powdered sugar was good too. Us grandkids would cut them into different shapes, so we know exactly who which one belonged to. We could hardly wait for them to cool when when came out of the fryer. Thanks mamita, for jogging my memory.

Ooooh, mamita those are good!
I make them as a desert, we always called them zeppoles. You put an extra egg in the batter so they really puff up.

Know what I'll be eating all weekend! I only know how to make a big batch so all the neighbors love it when I cook them.
