I just found out that my boss is going to be having surgery in December. He and his wife have become very dear friends. Tom has been living for years with uncontrolled Diabetes. He's been taking various pills and injections, and having them changed around for a long time. After a lot of testing, they discovered that he has a rare condition in which he produces antibodies against insulin. The doctors have decided the only thing left to do is gastric bypass surgery. He has three opinions on this, and they all agree. So in December he goes in for surgery, after which, he is told, he will no longer be diabetic. The entire month of November, he will be on a liquid diet, and after surgery he'll be able to intake about a tablespoon at a time of a special liquid diet, for the rest of his life. Tom is a man who loves food and centers many of his family activities around eating. This is going to force some major life changes.

Please also pray for his wife, Susan. She is understandably anxious about this whole thing and how it will impact Tom and his zest for life.
