went out to chore tonight noticed one of my feeders ear was about the size of a softball. it wasn't that way thismorning so i figure it was damaged today. i can remember back in college this happening to a few pigs but it hardened and was like a cauliflower ear. which you can't do anything about. i was wondering because it has been caught early could i lance it to let out the fluid or just raise a porcine pugilist
    thanks

Lance it if it is soft. The ear will probably swivel up, but you weren't going to eat the ear anyway......were you? Wouldn't hurt to give it some penicillin too.

I had the same problem too.My veterinar said not to lance it,becouse it can bleed a lot ,maybe to death. He said to izolate the pig from others, becouse some may bite him on that ear,and let the ear to lance by it self. After some time ear will decrease, but that is no problem to the pig.
