one of my pigs (~70lbs) has developed what looks to me like a baseball-sized abscess on her belly. otherwise, she seems completely healthy, feeds well, walks well, etc. can i expect problems with meat quality when i slaughter? i was thinking i would just cut out the affected area. does anyone have experience with this problem?

It might be a umbilical hernia (belly button).
If it's in that area, it won't hurt the quality of meat.

thanks for the info -- it looks a heck of a lot like umbilical hernia photos/descriptions i've been able to find now. hopefully this one'll remain on the small size until slaughter. . .

    thanks again!
