Animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has sent a letter to space entrepreneur Elon Musk, founder of rocket company SpaceX, urging him to make any SpaceX missions to Mars vegan.

"We can get off on the right foot on our new biosphere by ensuring that SpaceX crafts traveling to Mars are stocked only with vegan food and that Mars' colonists commit to enjoying an animal-free diet once they've arrived," the group wrote in the Aug. 8 letter.

This is why we can't get anything done around here. There's always some nutty extremist group making demands. Maybe these moonbats will save enough money eating snow peas to buy a seat on the first rocket out. I'd be willing to give them all of Mars if they'd just promise to take every last one of their ilk with them.

I agree 100% Ernie! I'd even be willing to donate some corn or something if it meant that they would go away and let us eat our meat in pea's ... peace!

Darn, guess no one in our Irish family will be traveling to Mars in the near future. We're definitely meat and taters type of folk. Heavy on the meat...

Everyone knows that once you colonize Mars all you want to eat is brains. I saw a movie about it.

SpaceX needs to send lots and lots of beef, pork, and turkey. Big slabs of juicy steak, with some A1 to go with; racks of delicious pork ribs and succulent pork loin; tender, moist aromatic turkey breast roasted slowly to golden perfection. They would also need some milk to wash down their meat. Also pack some good quality toothpicks so the astronauts can pick their teeth with impunity after their fine repast of animal flesh. Mmmm...meat!!
