Hi! I received a pig two weeks ago as a pet. It is one of those pygmy pigs weighing in at about 80 pounds full grown. The person who had him (at least I think it is a him!) before could not take care of it. We no nothing about pigs other than they eat anything! A new adventure awaits for us! He pretty much just makes us laugh to just look at him. It does not take much to amuse us! We just put hime in the pen with our chickensl. Is this all right for diseases? He seems to get along with them. At first he was very skittished. He seems to be scared of everything and does not see to well. Is this normal for pigs? I am pretty sure poor eyesight is known in pigs. Anyway, any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Never had a small pig before ours just walked the green mile at 270lbs.

Cracked corn is good and cheap, left over veg, poor eye sight is normal hence why you should never hand feed as fingers are seen as an extension of the food item. He will calm down after a while and see you as part of his family.

We raise all our pigs as "pets" to a degree as we find it makes them much easier to load on a trailer ................

We have had old Suzi for more than ten years...she has weighed alot more than eighty pounds in her life, believe me. She is loving, tries to lick your shoes, unties your shoe laces, will try to nip the back of your leg if she is moody...she is smart, she comes running (wobbling) when she hears her name...she eats anything..there is a special food for them to eat if you intend to keep them small. We also have a bigger one, old Jimbo..squinty eyes and big tusks...enjoy your pet, they will bring you lots of joy

Thanks for the information! The website has a lot of useful information so I bookmarked it so I can go back and read it from time to time. The picture made me wonder why we have a pig for a pet! All I can say is that he makes me laugh. Thanks again!
