Has anyone tried with success starting plums and pears from seed? What was your precedure? I have some wild plum seeds I want to try and I just found a wild pear that is too far away to try a layering start and so I was hoping to try starts form a seed. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

My grandmother could stick anything in the ground and it would grow. My uncle brought her this amazing pear back from hong kong and after she ate it she planted a seed in her back yard and it grew and produced the most amazing tasting pears I have ever had. She just stuck the seed in the ground and that was it! LOL
