Got mom home and all settled and noticed that she is using quite a bit of auxiliary muscle when she breathes. And she gets really short of breath with even a few steps. There was no medical order to put her on oxygen though she has a concentrator for when she gets a cold etc. I went ahead and ordered a small finger pulse oxygen meter since we are two thousand feet higher than she was in Tucson. Meter arrived yesterday and I immediately checked the O2 levels of everyone in the house. Mom was 84%- way low in my book. Got out the concentrator and turned it on very low 1.5-2 mm and her blood oxy. level came right up to 93! Later last night after we wheeled her to the bathroom and then back to bed it had dropped to 77%. No wonder she seemed more confused. Now her color is better too. Thank God I checked!

Now we begin the process of finding her a health plan in our rural county so she can get a small portable O2 which will allow her to go to breakfast with DB and me :)
