Oldest son has refused to drink water his whole life, throws nasty fits. Well I found a way to get him drinking water without even knowing it. Crystal light!!! They have no sugar,0 calories and the packets come in all sorts of flavors. It's a small win but it's a win

Why not just leave him alone and let him get thirsty and start to drink water? He's not going to let himself die of thirst.

Of course, you'd have to get rid of everything else that he prefers to drink. Soda, I presume?

Edited to ask: what do your other kids drink?

I am not sure that your son was the one who was outsmarted.

Yes it has sugar substitute but it is in my opinion still one step closer to getting him to drink water. We've also been trying those flavored drop things that you add into water

I’d just let him be thirsty. Aren’t your other kids going to start wanting what big brother has?

I never said we gave into him wanting dew. The rare occasion they get root beer. But yes you're right if he gets thirsty he will drink what's offered

Oh boy, how old is this young feller? I see a lot of problems down the road if he throws a fit about drinking water and you have to buy something to appease him. Good luck.

My youngest is very fit, she's big into CrossFit (we're hoping for a regional win this year) and is serious about what she puts in her body, and she uses the MiO drops. If it helps get him off soda it's a good thing.

Put lemon juice in the water and give it to him ice cold.

mio drops have a chemical concoction called "natural flavor". = made in a lab, not great for humans.

fine if you like it but it can't be compared with plain water. any additive with chemicals ruins plain water in my opinion

I had my other two grand kids here this morning and offered them chocolate milk with their ham and eggs and they chose water, I think they were dropped on their head when younger.

I always had bottled water next to the back door on a cooler when the kids were growing up. They each had their own mugs and paper cups for their friends. Never had anyone ask for a drink and with the pool, we had lots of kids over all the time.

I wish everyone would teach their children to drink water from a very young age. It is so important for health. Dehydration can occur fast and be deadly or at least have long term consequences.

My father always refused to drink water and went toxic on chemo due to that refusal. He had repeated episodes of kidney stones due to not drinking enough. He mentally reacted to water like it was toxic. Eventually he died of kidney failure. I had kidney stones twice and now i drink A LOT of water daily and haven't had another attack in 10 years.
