Organic growers can use organic insecticides and fertilizers. We also use organic herbicides.

In my not at all humble opinion on this topic, the intended meaning of organic is lost when we start importing food from great distances. It takes a lot of resources to truck and ship food. I'm glad people are paying so much more attention to what they're eating and how it's grown. I hope more people are interested in becoming organic farmers. We need them. It's going to take a lot of farmers to catch up to demand.

"Organic means food is grown without bug killer, fertilizer, hormones, antibiotics or biotechnology."

This is a perfect example of journalists passing off their uneducated opinions as fact.
