Opinion on this feed for sheep???

Hi, we have the opportunity to buy some reasonably priced organic grain for our sheep, these are the ingredients: Barley, Oats, Wheat (small amount), Soy, Flax, listed at 16% protein. With supplimented mineral block, and grass hay, can you see any issues with this? Thank you in advance :worship:

Ground, cracked or whole? Ground feed can slow motility in a sheep and they really can digest whole grains just fine. Your grass hay would have to be poor stuff for that not to be a pretty good ration.
Oh I didn't see salt in the ration. We use loose mineral and loose salt after we had some DOA lambs with iodine deficency and a marked improvement switching to loose salt. Those PM's paid off fast! It was just one breed (Rideaus) that had the problem but I think they all benefit from free-r choice salts and mineral. Impresions aren't very scientific though.
Kabri, I used the cracked corn in this mix. If you are getting this from who I think you are..,, Normally the organic corn whole kernels are huge!
This mix can also help a lot in the quality of the fleece you get.

For the mineral/salt, Ross is right, loose mix is best. Sheep just can't get enough from a block.
Cenex will special order you the Sheep only mineral/salt mixes.

Ross, it is supposed to be whole grains except for the flax and soy. We've been unable to find good cracked organic corn, so we will be adding conventional for the sheep only. We DO feed separate salt mineral mix free choice. (always have).

Bergere, We are getting our feed from Canada, thru a dealer in WA. We can get it in 55gal barrels which is SO much nicer than continuously hefting 50lb bags into garbage cans every few days!
Kabri,

Having 55gal barrels sounds great!!!
If I may ask, what are you paying for your Organic feed?
