Our old RCA TV in the living room is like 30 years old. One of those cabinet type t.v.s We have a satellite box hooked up to it on top of the tv and the guy that installed it said if we ever got a dvd or vcr to go through the satellite receiver then into the dvd. When the satellite guy hooked it up he could not program the remote control in because it didn't have our tv listed in the "codes" We have tried every hook up possible and we are pretty sure we have all the wires right. We have it set on channel 4 satelite, dvd/vcr and tv. What is weird is if we switch it over to channel 3 you can hear the vcr or dvd play but you can't see a picture, switch it back to channel 4 and you can see the picture, but no sound. Any ideas??

Look on the back of the SAT box and see if it is one of the older ones with a switch for selecting channel 3/4. If so, put it on 3. I think it is currently on 4

Hi. Thanks for replying. Yes it has a switch 3/4. When the guy hooked up the satellite he set the t.v. and the switch on the back of the sat box to 4. We've tried switching them to 3 and it isn't working. Could the old t.v. just be too old?
