Skimmed the list and didn't find a better location for my question, so sorry if this is not it. We have a number of hazelnut bushes, finally bearing in some quantity, if still small. As I gathered this year's nuts, I realized I have a couple bucket of last year's in the cellar, still in husks. They smell musty. Any guesses on the useability of the nuts? I cracked three, one of which smelled off. Also info or experience with how long nuts in the shell are OK? From the two I opened, this year's clearly need time to mature. They're in a flat cardboard box in the LR, where the woodstove is. Thanks, Sue
