California has a couple, Palmdale and Mammoth Lakes, both over 30 years old. Don't sell the farm yet!

In addition to the well known Rainier and St Helens we also have Mt Adams, Glacier Peak and Mt Baker, all more or less active, young volcanoes. The Columbia Basin of Eastern Washington is built up from lava flows from 20 million to 2 million years ago.

Glad to see I'm not the only nerd that peruses the vast amounts of free reading material on the USGS site (among others).

    I hadn't seen the MSNBC story.....fascinating stuff.
