(Please forgive the double forum posting -- I forgot what forum I had posted the last photos ---- old age :baby04:)

It's been six monthes since the last photos. I know for many of you already living the dream--- this update is unimpressive. But remember we are into the 2nd year of a 5 year plan to make the homestead and break away from the city.

We have now sewer (required by the state of NH) though no internal plumbing yet. It does not make sense to set up a system that is used only when we are working there or when we are frustrated and need a few days away. The pipes could crack during the winter if heat is not available.

Well is dug but not connected to the house yet. House is wired but need 13,000 to drag the wires up to the home from the nearest pole. So... we truck in water and propane tanks right now.

It's on the foundation (yeah!!!) so the structure is now stable.

WOW that is really looking good! You guys have made a great deal of progress if you are only on year two. I love the type of windows you used and sure wish they would have worked at my place. Keep up the very good work! sis

Thanks everyone -- yes we are doing all the work ourselves.

Hill Crest Farm, we are in Wentworth, looking out on Mt. Mooselauke.

13K would go a long way toward a nice solar setup!

Mommyumd: I love your pics of your dream coming true. Please, please, email me and tell me where on earth you found the metal doors to your (storm?) cellar. We're looking for one, and don't know where to start!

It is a nice place, but why so many windows? Is this a warm place you have it built in? I too love the ceiling. Keep the pictures coming.

Love to see photos from "them that's doin'"! Keep 'em commin.

Windows? Dang, if we could have found windows that would have fit between existing studs on 24" centers we'd have had a bunch of 'em too!

    Thanks for the encourgement!

The windows had already been bought by the person who started the shell. The problem was the guy started the frame on cinder blocks and facing north.
We had a full cellar dug and the house rotated about 100 degrees to face south/southeast. Now the windows are only on the sides that should gain passive solar heating after we add the tile flooring.

And quite honestly-- what a view from those windows!!
