I am very excited to announce that my GC doe has kindled a nice litter
    of 6 Monday morning!
This is the doe I wrote about a month ago that had her first litter on
the wire. We were home for that litter and saved them and she did
raise all 9 of them. Her second litter she had on the wire again but
we were unable to save any of them. This litter was her 3rd chance and she
    did a wonderful job!
We were worried about this becoming a problem with her so we decided
to try one of those nest boxes that attach under the floor of the cage
and you cut a hole in the floor for access. Well, let me tell you, it
was a great idea! Sunday night I noticed that she had soiled the box so
I cleaned it and stuffed it with fresh straw. As I thought about it I
decided to put a whole flake of straw in the cage in case she had them
on the wire again. She took that flake of straw and mounded it up over
the box and built a beautiful nest in that box!!
If anyone has considered those type of boxes I can honestly say they
    worked for my troublesome doe!
Pictures of the new litter can be seen at

    their respective pages too.

Congratulations! I'm sure glad she did ok with this litter...sure is frustrating and sad when they lose their litters. :( Maybe she just didn't like normal nestboxes?

I do not know the reason but I tell you what, it was worth it to get the new setup. She is much happier and the kits are doing great. I will try to get a picture of the nest this weekend. It is quite a site!
