Hi! I'm trying to figure out what kind of tree this is. I'm not able to post a picture, but will try to in the coming weeks if no one can help me based on description alone. I'm in Maryland if that helps at all.

The tree is about 6 feet tall, but has been growing in a pot, so I assume it could get bigger. It's not very broad though. The leaves are small (roughly an inch long) and rounded. The leaves are very smooth and a nice green color with red going right around the edges. They're compound leaves with 8+ leaves per stem. The three is beginning to grow what I assume will be flowers. The buds are a deep reddish brown and are roughly the size of a dime, but spherical. The trunk of the tree almost has a birch look, with patches of white and gray/brown.

If you have any questions that would help me identify it, ask away. But like I said, right now I'm not able to post a picture.

Thanks in advance for all your help!!
