As nuclear proliferation is a big world-wide problem I am thinking that other countries should be helping with this too.
Anyone have the skinny?

I just read your post to my husband who was in Viet Nam...Little Quacker in OR said:I am hearing hints that our Navy is gathering for blockades of Iran and others? Maybe I have the wrong countries??? Anyone else getting word on this? I am not looking for a big tirade on politics here, just wondering who has family/friends in the navy and if you have heard anything.

LQ, May I ask where you're getting your hints? So, minus the "big tirade on politics", I'd like to just say this... any of you who DO have family/friends in/around the navy should not discuss ships' deployment schedules. They are kept from public for a variety of reasons.... one of the biggest being the safety of our sailors onboard those ships.Little Quacker in OR said:I am hearing hints that our Navy is gathering for blockades of Iran and others? I have to disagree with you, fordy. It's not the "commie behind every bush" factor. It's the very real threat of terrorism looming over us today. "They" have intelligence people just like we do, and very often, many seemingly insignificant pieces draw a bigger, more significant, picture.fordy said:...............LQ , I, really wouldn't worry about your question too much . Maybe we have some folks who think that , as they did back in the Cold War era , there is a Commie behind every Bush (no punn) .![]()
Agree, once they mobilize. I just get concerned sometimes when the "kids" (to me, at least) in the navy tell there folks their deployment schedules (when, how long, scheduled liberty ports, etc.), and the folks talk to neighbors, and the guy down at the bar, and overheard by someone else, etc.joan from zone six said:back in the days when our enemies were restricted to humint discussion of ship movements were taboo for obvious reasons - with the range of intel available now to our enemies, from satellites to npr and cnn, its virtually impossible for ship movements not to be common knowledge -
