Yep. I name our Bois D'arc trees.

All started b/c G'son called my DH Jim, G'pa Jimbo. So Jim called him 'Alec Bo' for fun. So fast forward to owning 20 ac. with mostly Bois D'arc trees. (if there's someone who doesn't know the pronunciation, 'bois' is 'Bo'.) First Bois D'arc we cleared of vines & dead wood, we named "Alec Bois". The really big sprawling one became "Bois Mamma". Then a larger one was found-probably 100 years old: "Bois Daddy".

    Now there's:

Bois Derek (prettiest tree out there)
    Bois Diddly
    Bois Dacious
    Bois Tie
    Little Bois Peep
    Little Bois Blue
    Bois Legged
    Clara Bois
    Cross Bois
    Broken Bois
    Bois Window
    Bois Bridges
    Hair Bois
    Rain Bois
    Medicine Bois
    Violin Bois
    Ox Bois
    Long Bois
Barb Bois (named for an old friend Barbara)
    Christmas Bois

    Would appreciate any more names.

    Patty

Bois is often mispronounced "bo", but it is correctly pronounced more like "bwaw" in French. A real native French-speaker would throw a hedge apple in your face if you pronounced it "bo". Well, at least FEEL like throwing one...

Yeah..boy don't the natives pronounce things strangely ?!?!

street named Kearney..ok I'd pronounce the "ea" like tear..but it's pronounced just as "a" as in car so Kearney becomes Karney...

city named Spokane..typical pronunciation rules applied would be long "a" but it's pronounced with a short "a" as in can...

the whole Bois d'Arc thing gets me too...

Using the semi-correct (I think) pronunciation of "boy" (or bwah if you're French), here are some:

    Bois George

    Bois Wonder

    Super Bois

    Bois Lermaker

    Bois Howdy

and the top name of all.....

    ......

    Bois O. Bois
