Just received my first Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers.
Silly ? But is it safe to assume these bags are sterile (clean/safe) or is there a process I have to do before sealing my dehydrated foods?

The mylar bags are ready to use.
You don't have to buy a special tool to seal them.
I put the mylar bag in a bucket, fill , them put oxygen absobers in, drape bag over a board( I use a 1x 2) use iron and iron the bag shut. The bag will tighten up when the absorber works it's magic

I would not assume the bags are sterile, but for dehydrated foods, sterile containers are not neccessary. I store my things in glass jars.

It doesn't matter if there are bacteria in the bags, bacteria can't survive without water, thats why dehydration works to preserve foods. Probably far more bacteria floating in the air anyway. For that matter when you handle them you are spreading your bacteria on the foods. The human body has 10 trillion cells but harbors 100 trillion bacteria, and they don't count virus or fungus in that either. Hope your not a germ-a-phobe
