'Cause I know you're just DYEING to know how it turned out, LOL!!!!
If you missed my previous post...I did something really stupid and dyed my hair BLACK. It's not a good look for me.
I got tons of great advice on that thread and I am very thankful to all who responded, if only to laugh with me!
I did go to Sally's and get Color Fix -- kind of expensive, but if it works, I'll pay! I think it was $23. Still cheaper than a salon.
Just got done with the process. It's not quite as easy as putting the color INTO the hair, but not horrible either. Gotta mix bottles 1 and 2 in a bowl, apply, wait 20 minutes, rinse and shampoo. Repeat this if needed, which I did. At this point my hair looked *normal* again, maybe a little brassier than I'd have liked. I was ready to throw a party, let me tell you! Then after that you're supposed to apply bottle 3, processing toner whatchamacallit...it's like water, so not real easy to apply evenly, I dripped all over.

Leave on for 5 minutes then rinse. And I used a good conditioner.
Result? My hair is now dark brown with a little reddish tinge. Not quite what I'd hoped, but still a HUGE improvement over Raven Goth Halloween Black! It's not totally even in color, which is actually kinda cool, looks like I might've done that on purpose just to be different.
I can live with this. I still have a little bit left in each bottle, so I might try it again to see if it gets a tad lighter.
I've read reviews of this stuff, and a lot of women have left off the final bottle #3 step because it darkens the hair again. I don't know what would happen if I did that. Might not work in the long term; I think the hair would gradually get dark again anyway? And it smelled a little yucky -- but the bottle #3 made the smell go away. My hair isn't as soft as it used to be, but I've definitely had it fried worse.
Moral of the story? Gosh, I'm sure there are several.
