tapes (about 1.75 hours) recorded on a Radio Shack cheapie that he wants to hear--needs to hear. It's audible (mostly) to most people but the quality is horrible--lots of white noise if I try to turn the sound up enough for him--and there are dips in the volume I'd love to correct. I transferred them to my computer and could record them again if needed. Before I spend hours searching for editing (easy and free--preferably) software, I thought I'd ask if anyone could recommend a program or 2.

DS recommended Audacity to bring "it" in. Excellent program! Worked like a charm! I haven't checked out all the capabilities and probably missed a bunch; guess I really should hunt down my "feminine" side and read the instructions...darn! I wanted a "plug and play" fix...dream on, I know.
