Sorry for your loss. My Dad is gone four years and it does get a bit easier with time but there are always triggers that hit like a brick wall. My condolences to you and your family.

Sorry for your loss, but as long as he lived a good life, he didn't lose the fight. He simply crossed the finish line.

    Kmac, I'm sorry as well.

My dad was was an electrical lineman and killed on the job when I was 9 years old and my siblings were in their teens. I grew up bitter at times that I lost my father so early and missed out on so much. Yesterday I received my first card from my oldest teenage son; my youngest son called me from grandmas where he is spending part of the summer, and my daughter sent over a gift and a photo of a canoe trip I took her on when she was little, thanking me for all I have taught her and given to her.
My point is this- As I sat in my living room chair during the late afternoon, staring out the window, I thought to myself, my father is in me just as I was a part of him. He continues to this day and his grandchildren see that with every trait or mannerism I inherited from him, from every story I repeat of who he was and what he did. I deeply appreciated the small tokens my children did for me this Father's Day, and it to me, was as if my dad was there to experience it too. He has never left me in spirit.
God bless you and your family during this time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2001. We shared decorating for the holiday together. For several years it was hard to even think about those memories and to just do it. Today I cherish them and decorate like he's watching over me.
I believe Losing a parent fundamentally changes a person. I'm not the same, now I'm better. I feel like I took up my dad's best traits.
It does get easier and your memories will live on. Hugs.

Im so sorry. I buried my mom on Tuesday last week.

It doesn't ever heal, but it scars over with time.
