I thought it had happened once before in the early '70's...huh... I'll have to go look it up!
I heard it on TV but haven't checked to see if they were correct.

Looks like ole' Sally is up to 100 mph Cat 2...or so our local weather man just said on the 9pm cut in.
I had seen that predicted earlier but the NHC didn't have it posted then.

Those slow movers are hard to predict.

At 700 PM CDT (0000 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Sally was
located near latitude 31.5 North, longitude 86.5 West. Sally is
moving toward the northeast near 7 mph (11 km/h), and a
northeastward motion at a slightly faster forward speed is expected
tonight through Thursday night. On the forecast track, the center
of Sally will move across southeastern Alabama tonight, over central
Georgia on Thursday, and move over South Carolina Thursday night.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h)
with higher gusts. Additional weakening is expected as the center
moves farther inland tonight, and Sally is forecast to become a
tropical depression tonight.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km)
from the center.

weatherman said we are getting the remnants of sally tonight in the form of rain. started getting way dark already and some drizzle. some say Teddy is going to skirt us but more say we are getting a direct hit and worse than Juan.

i was in the condo then on the ocean on the 10th floor and had a sick husband to look after. this time i'm alone . i have everything i need just in case and i have a basement this time. i'm sure this solid little house will take it. all i have to do is pick up all my deco outside and put in the shed. come monday when i know more i'll likely tie my canopy up with plastic and bungie cords~Georgia
