Doesn't look like they are expected to become too strong. Hopefully they will pull some gulf moisture up here to southern Illinois and give us some rain.

"TAMPA, Fla. - With a new tropical storm and a tropical depression aiming for the U.S., forecasters say both could be swirling in the Gulf of Mexico as hurricanes next week.

If that happens, it would be the first time two hurricanes were in the Gulf at the same time, FOX 13's meteorologist Jim Weber says, going back to the start of record-keeping in 1851.

"Everyone is wondering, 'Have we seen this before?' The answer is no, we have not seen two hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico before. There's no record of two hurricanes," he explained. "We have had two tropical systems -- either a tropical storm and a depression or two tropical storms -- but we've never actually had two hurricanes in recorded history in the Gulf of Mexico. So we might actually see a first with this." "

If that plays out like the picture it could lead to some interesting dynamics between the 2 I would think.

This explains some of the possibilities:

.

"The Fujiwhara effect, sometimes referred to as the Fujiwara effect, Fujiw(h)ara interaction or binary interaction, is a phenomenon that occurs when two nearby cyclonic vortices orbit each other and close the distance between the circulations of their corresponding low-pressure areas.

The effect is named after Sakuhei Fujiwhara, the Japanese meteorologist who initially described the effect. Binary interaction of smaller circulations can cause the development of a larger cyclone, or cause two cyclones to merge into one. Extratropical cyclones typically engage in binary interaction when within 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) of one another, while tropical cyclones typically interact within 1,400 kilometres (870 mi) of each other. They are both spinning in the same direction. If they touch they will lock up. Happened on my trailer one time when I knocked an axle loose on a rock.:)
