More Help-Mustard Pickles

    Trying mustard pickles like grandma made. recipe calls for Pearls onion. Ain't no Pearl around here. Can I use regular onion.
    I just hate going to town to look for her.

    You can use whatever kind of onion you want to! Besides, I don't think great Aunt Pearl would want to leave Arizona just to make pickles....... :rolleyes:

    The recipe I have is on page 48 of the ball canning book. i ran across it by accident while looking for it. Figured it had died with grandma. Time will tell if its the same :)

    Does the recipe call for "pearl" onions? If so, your Grandma used the really small white onions - about the size of an walnut. You can find them in the produce section.

    My Ball Canning Book says "pearl" onions.

    I just use the ones from the garden that didn't get very big. :)
